Jessie J 'sobbed for hours' after hearing she is cancer-free
BBCSinger Jessie J has said she is now "cancer free", a year after revealing she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
In a video posted on Instagram on Thursday, the singer is seen waiting for an MRI scan as part of a yearly check-up. The caption reads: "Results are in and I am cancer-free!" followed by 10 crying emojis.
She added: "I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year."
In June last year the Price Tag singer revealed her diagnosis on social media, and had surgery later that month.
Two months later, in August, she rearranged and cancelled upcoming tour dates after revealing she needed to undergo further cancer treatment.
Jessie J said she decided to go public about her cancer in order to help process her diagnosis, and show solidarity with others going through a similar ordeal.
The performer, who gave birth to a son in 2023, went on to say the diagnosis had given her "incredible perspective".
"But honestly I need to process it and talk about it and, I need a hug," she told fans.
"You have loved me through all my good and hard times. And I don't want this to be any different."
The singer has had health issues throughout her life. She was diagnosed with a heart condition as a child, had a stroke as a teenager and briefly went deaf in 2020 due to Meniere's disease.
In 2024, she revealed she had been diagnosed with ADHD and OCD.
'Nothing has broken me'
In December last year, she told Women's Health: I've always had obscure health issues that [doctors] can't figure out.
"Nothing has broken me. And I believe I've gone through all the things I have to help people. Even if it's just to write songs about it."
Jessie J has had three UK number one singles - Price Tag, Domino and Bang Bang (with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj).
In 2011 the singer won the Brits critics' choice award, along with four Mobos - including best UK act and best album, for Who You Are.
She released her latest album, Don't Tease Me With A Good Time, in November 2025.
